Y7 The Greenwich Peninsula

Today we are starting our unit on the Greenwich Peninsula development and then extending into the Thames Gateway.  This unit of work is part of our settlement unit and focuses on development in the local area.  In order to get you started go and visit the official Greenwich peninsula site by clicking on the picture below.

This site will give you the most current up to date information for the Peninsula plans.

PLANS FOR THE DOME

The dome has become the O2 and will host a wide variety of entertainments.  You can book now for the coming Justin Timberlake or Scissor Sisters.  If you have a large bank balance you can hire your own corporate box which comes with fantastic seats and your very own bar and entertainment suite.  If you have that kind of money see me and I will help you spend it!

More will be added to this post soon

Savage Weather Photo Competition

Congratulations to Sophia Dunn in 7L. This is a photo of of her sister Sky Diving. I think that she has won the extreme weather competition as temperatures at that height are very cold and wind speeds will be very high.

Y11 Favela Rising

This was shown on TV recently and will help you with your current unit.  Next lesson we will be working on a decision making exercise based in the favela.

Y8 The Perfect Animal

Today you will have been shown the clip below and asked the question ‘is a shark the perfect animal?’  This was aimed to get you thinking about how animals adapt to their environment and your task today and for your homework is to design your own animal for the particular environment you have been given.

You must think about the types of characteristics your animal will have so as to be able to cope with the environment and other predators within it.  A diary for a day in the life of your animal must also be included.

Weekly Photography Competition for everyone

Calling all students and staff!

Today sees the launch of Georgeous Geography’s Photo Competition.  The competition is open to anyone who attends St Ursula’s (That includes all staff).  You need to send in a picture based around a theme.  This is like the observer competition in which people send in a photo based around a theme. Yes you’ve guessed it, our competition is going to be based around a geographical theme each week.

This week the Met office has issued a severe weather warning for most of the UK.  So I have decided that this weeks theme is ‘Severe Weather’  The top three photos will be posted here and there will be a prize for the winner.

Entries must be posted into the shared area under Geography Folder and then ‘Photo Competition’ Folder with your details attached (Just call your photo by your full name) the closing date is Friday 16th Feb (Due to half term you can have more than a week).  I will announce the winners on the first Monday after half term.

Remember it must be a digital photograph of something to do with ‘Severe Weather’ it can be as imaginative as you like, you can take it on a digital camera or on your mobile phone just so long as it is your own photo. It could be anything that you think is associated or shows Severe Weather so be inventive.

Y8 What Eats What?

This term year 8 are studying ecosystems.  To get you in the mood for this weeks homework I have decided to give you some relaxing music to listen to whilst you complete your logic puzzle what eats what.  Can you guess which ecosystem this is from.  Click on the speaker to activate and then press play

Here is the matrix you will need to complete this homework
